STEM SCIENCE has classes at Schilling.
PCS’s are making the class rosters be pretty fluid, but classes are pretty full, so please RSVP as soon as possible so I don’t give out your spot to someone new.
This month’s STEM theme is “Electronics.” We’ve had this before, but this time in addition to learning the basics of electricity/electronics, batteries, resistors, switches, loads/lights, electrical conductors & insulators, we’ll focus on how we can connect components in series or in parallel. We’ll review and use some parts of past themes such as Atomic Structure, Electrons, Electric Circuits, Electricity, Batteries, the Periodic Table, Hot & Cold, Energy, Sound, to learn about electricity/electronics and how they are all around us and useful for daily life. We’ll talk about resistance, current, voltage, power, ohms, amps, volts, watts, AC/DC, and about open/closed/short circuits. And of course, we’ll learn proper safety procedures around electronics and electricity. We’ll build a circuit to test a basic circuit as well as learn to connect them in series or in parallel.

Note: your Schilling receipt might have different dates for the classes, but we will normally schedule
for the 1st/3rd (for ages 6-8) and 2nd/4th (for ages 9-12) Thursdays of the month [unless rescheduled].

The STEM Science class is based on a tried and true teaching method that has been used for decades in Japan.
